    Hi

    My partner is going for a home carer job interview later this week with acercare.co.uk now she has had a chat to them and it all seems fine, but they have asked her to bring a long with her to the interview all these things, she is Slovakian but been living and working in the UK for 20+ years now.

    ​Attached application form completed if possible
    • Passport
    • Driving licence
    • Utility bills
    • Recent bank statement
    • Birth and marriage certificates
    • Existing DBS if you have one.

    Just wondering why they want things like bank statements, utility bill, birth certificate?

    She doesn't have a DBS check. Is it normal for them to ask for all these things seems a bit dodgy to me

    Your partner's potential employer have a duty to undertake checks to ensure that employees have a right to work and reside in the UK. Several of the documents they have requested are those detailed by the Home Office as acceptable documents to help prove her right to work i.e. passport and birth certificate. I do have to admit that having to present all of those you have listed is a bit extreme particularly bank statements utility bill and driving licence as they are usually used for proof of address and therefore only normally need one but not as a Home Office requirement.

    The DBS is because being a carer your partner is likely to be dealing with vulnerable people in which case a DBS check would be required and it is probably that if she already has one they would need to evidence a copy for their files if employment followed on from the interview.

    I would suggest that if she has them available to take to the interview and if she can ascertain the purpose for each she can maybe just offer up the passport, driving licence and certificates.
