  • Redundancy

    Hi,
on Sunday 3rd February I was made redundant with no warning or notice. The company I was working for have gone insolvent. They owe my wages and holiday pay.
I was on a weekly pay. I'm now told that I need to apply through the receivers for any money due.
I still haven't had anything in writing or official.
What do I do? I don't have savings and my rent us due soon.
    thanks

Sorry to hear about your situation. You should have been provided with:

    1. an RP1 fact sheet - here is a link to it: https://assets.publishing.service.go...etforGOVUK.pdf
    2. a CN (case reference) number to be used when you are applying for any monies that are due to you.

How long have you worked with the company because if it is more than two years you will be entitled to statutory redundancy pay, alongside any unpaid wages, notice pay and accrued but untaken holiday pay.

However any monies owed to you are not paid out immediately and it may take up to 6 weeks or longer.

So sorry this has happened to you. Speak to your landlord now. Don't just default on the rent, but let him know in advance that you'll be late with the payment. Any decent landlord will be fairly sympathetic.

In the meantime, you need to apply for benefits and look for a new job. Apply to use a food bank.

Above all, don't borrow money from a loan shark.
