hi everyone. I’m having a dilemma on what can possibly happen when I go to apply for NINO . I came in UK underage and started working in coffee shop for a year and half but now I’m 18 and I’m thinking to apply for NINO . I must say that I was working with someone’s else Insurance number. What can possibly happen when I go in jobcenter and apply? Will I be shown as working in a coffee shop before? I also have HSBC account on my name where the wages used to came in. Thanks

According to the Gov. Uk website you can legally work in the UK before you get your NINO so long as you can prove that you are allowed to work here.
https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number
Your main issue is that you say you were using someone else's info while working. I'm not sure what the dwp etc... will do in that respect, but hopefully one of the other Beagles will be able to help.

To be honest I am not sure what will happen. However I do know that working on someone else's NI number is illegal.
I appreciate that you may have had your reasons and may have been in difficult circumstances when you came into the UK. Did you come in with family or on your own to the UK? Are you an EU or non-EU national? I think the issue is not only about the NINO but there may be implications regarding your status to remain in the UK. Sorry to add to your worries but I think you may need someone who has immigration knowledge.
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com
I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

Have to agree with Ula, the question is more likely to relate to immigration law and I have zero knowledge in that respect.
Using someone else's National Insurance number for gain could be considered as fraudulent and if that person knew you were using it, they could end up in trouble themselves.
How that affects your right to remain in the UK I wouldn't know and I'm not sure anyone on this forum has the relevant knowledge to really assist you.
Your best bet might be to contact Citizens Advice or a free advice centre that offers specialist immigration law advice.
I would imagine that some government system is likely to have tagged you with that NI number and if you apply for one, that could be flagged up which may or may not spark further investigation whether that is in the near future or somewhere further down the lineIf you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

I was underage 16 years old. And I’m EU resident from Romania. I came with my auntie and she used to put me on her work as barista at Costa. As far I as know the manager of costa has knowledge about my Nino and he never said nothing. I left UK few months ago and now I’m back and thinking to apply for my NINO as I’m 18. Thanks.
