Hi all
Apologies if this isn't the right place for this but I have a question regarding a request from the CEO of the company I work for.
I work for a large public sector organisation as a designer and have been here for just under a year.
Yesterday, the CEO's PA gave me a letter from the CEO's previous company. She asked me to Photoshop out the body of the text. I expressed my concerns in doing so but felt very pressured and ended up doing it.
This morning I have come into work and the PA has asked me to do it again but leave in the signature that was on the original letter. I believe this person is now the CEO of that company. She has also asked for me to remove the company address, phone numbers, email address and the line at the bottom which says my CEO was then the CEO of this company. When I have said I am not comfortable doing this she replied it is just for a reference. If that is the case, surely the CEO should do it from him and on our letterhead, not his old letter head?
I'm really not happy with this and feel like it is fraudulent. However, I also feel very pressured as he is not only the CEO but my manager's direct manager. Our department reports directly to him and he does have a mean streak. At the moment we are in his good books but I worry that refusing will cause a lot of trouble for me and my colleagues.
Could anyone advise on if I'm right to be concerned or if I'm being a bit of a drama queen? Really not sure how to deal with this.
