  • Company car and static site???

Evening everyone and thank you for taking time to read this.

For my job I am employed as mobile FM electrical/multi-skilled engineer, I am supplied with a company van to traven to any of 3 static sites my company manage to do my work, I have worked with them for 23 months.

I have just recieve comms today to announce company changes that effect me as follows...

I am no longer reporting to my general (roaming) manager and now I am now going to be reporting to the site manager on one particular site, and I will be reporting to that site until further notice - quote: for an "interim" period, but then told slightly later this will be someware between 3 to 12 months.

What is the regulations regarding company vehicles and the implications of prolonged periods at one static site?

Someone told me that HMRC have a document somewhere where it states maximum number of days per year but I cannot find any reference online.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this, and be able to shed light on what the rules are, and what implications (if any) I may be subject to.

    Thanks in advance.

    Jamie

Are you asking this in relation to the taxation of your company vehicle? Are you currently taxed for the van? Are you allowed to use your van for personal use?
Do you get a mileage allowance as well?
Sorry just need the answers to the above questions to be able to respond to your question.

Its a lease vehicle the company provided. No mileage allowance, no private use.

I believe that you should be ok, unlike company car drivers if you only use your van for your daily commute between home and work and for business during the day with no private usage allowed then you will not have to pay van tax.

You can just double check with your employer that this change is not going to require then to complete what is called a P11D for you. This is a statutory form required by HMRC for the reporting of any benefits in kind which may need to be taken account of for tax purposes.
