  • Termination of additional duties

I have a job with a family business whom i have been with for over 4 years.

I have wanted to get off my job and go into something different so they ave given me an additional (uncontracted) role with another employee on a rota basis.

A new opening came up, so i decided to go for it but management thought it would be better if I shared this role also.

So now I perform 3 jobs on 1 contract.

After an arguement over pay, I have been threatened to be ostracized and have my additional duties stripped from me. I am abit concerned as they suggest that this newest role is on a trial basis and the same rights don't apply. So I am at their mercy.

    Help!

When you say "uncontracted" do you just mean that you don't have separate written contract of employment covering that additional role?

When they say that,"the same rights don't apply" do you know what rights they imagine they are talking about?

        Thank you for reading.

Yes, the additional duties are not written anywhere. I now have a verbal understanding of the roles and the dynamics of their pay, that was impressed onto me for conducting myself with a "contentious attitude" But nothing on paper.

For example with rights to disciplinary procedure etc. The boss in reference suggests that these extra duties are part of a trial. And for this reason is not subject to the disciplinary process, so at the moment is using this as negative reinforcement.
