  • Redundancy

I am being made redundant and have had a decision letter.

within the letter it states I am unable to be offered a job in the admin department as it would take 3 months to train. I was originally employed in the admin department so know the job. The only difference is a couple of procedure changes so would literally take me a week to learn at most.

it is also stated in the letter my role (and my colleagues) is being absorbed by the admin department.

    Can they do this?

I presume that this thread and the one headed redundancy and abroad are the same issue? If so will arrange to get these merged as it will make it easier to support you if there is only one thread running.

Can you confirm how long you have been employed by the company.

Then in order to be able to assist I need to understand in more detail the process that has happened to date in regard to the redundancy situation. Has the company consulted with you and other colleagues affected up to the point of receiving this "decision letter"? I presume by a "decision letter" this is one that tells you that your position has been selected for redundancy? What are the reasons that the company have given to undertake a redundancy process? Is it on the basis of job functions being reduced/certain work is no longer needed? Did they advise who was in the pool of affected employees and what the selection criteria would be? Have they discussed with you any suitable alternative positions?
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
