Hi All !
I have just found out something that may be of interest to some other peeps. (Credit goes to Refie 999 of RUC and BC)
If you wear a company uniform and you have to launder it yourself.. you can claim back monies going back up to 6 years. Its worth finding out if you are on the right tax code cos if you are not, then it will be adjusted accordingly. It is called the Flat Rate Expense, FRE)
All you need to do is call your Tax Office (tip; you can call your company head office to find out the number ) and they will ask you to send them original copies of your p60s going back 6 yrs and to also include a covering letter explaining that you wear a company uniform and you have to launder it your self. Make sure you include your National Insurance number, and the company you work for.
There is one downfall tho.. you have to wait 8 weeks for your claim to be processed ( I just spoke to my Tax Office on the phone, but the lady didn't say if that was the same for all Tax Offices.
Ive also included a link of a flat rate expenses table of amounts which show amounts from year 2004 onwards>>>>>Other expenses: flat rate expenses: table of agreed amounts for 2004/05 onwards
BF xx
