  • Sainsbury Ban

    Hi,
    my brother last week received a ban from Sainsbury for not paying for goods.
    No police was involved, and they took his ID and said it was internal and that he is not welcome in any of theirs and partner store.
    If he receives any dwf letters repeatedly, how he handle it. He is guilty and regrets it.im trying tell him not to worry.
    Any advice is helpful.

    What he will receive is a 'speculative invoice', with no breakdown of costs. He will receive several letters, have a read, then file them away.

    Tell him not to stress himself. If in the very unlikely that anything further happens, just post on this thread.

      Thanks you very much for the prompt response.
      in many forums that I have read, states that we ignore these threats as they are testing and using scare tactics.
      Shall I just ignore these or shall I send them a letter stating " any liability to their client is denied and that we will not enter into any further correspondence".
      I Have also asked my brother not to go into any Sainsbury for a very long time ...and moreso refrain from any thefts.
      As mentioned, no police was involved and he was just escorted out of the store.

      Please advise a professional reply to be sent to DFW in the event he keeps getting letters.

        forgot to mention that all the grocery items was returned to the store manager..all on re-saleable condition and unopened.

          All he needs to do is ignore the first letter, then ignore the second letter then ignore the third and any subsequent letters.

          Writing to them only seems to make them redouble their efforts.
          They must think a response means they've caught a fish and they will play it .

              One more clarification,
              if they keep sending letters, which we will ignore, but after the 4 or 5th letter, could we return the letter stating .."return to sender" or say "moved".
              This way, perhaps they will stop sending and move on..
              What is ur advice?

              Also does DFW always send letters after such an incident? Or on occasion they ignore.

                You need to read the previous answers, they can send a 100, but they are essentially the same as the 1st one, So you treat each in the same way read / ignore. It is better for them to know that you are ignoring them.

                As long as they can print them, they will send them. Costs almost nothing for them to do that.
