  • Help Please with Cabot

Today I recieved a second letter off Cabot, (the first one I Ignored on advice from curlyben)saying that they have obtained conformation that I live at this address, your account is overdue and we need to talk to you a s soon as possible.

Call us on 0800 328 9911 and speak to one of our helpful cutomer advisors about option for repaying your account.

I am still not sure what this is about but I am very worried as I dont have much money and know nothing about legal matters.

Could some one please help me or advise me on this.

    Many thanks

Hello db1 and welcome to Beagles.
Whatever you do, do not ring them, everything should be done in writing.
Have you any idea who the money is owed to?

      Hiya

As Enaid says whatever you do, DO NOT talk to any DCA on the phone, do everything in writing in order to keep a nice little paper trail that would come in useful if ever needed later.

Personally I'd file this letter under I for Ignore and wait until they have written to you again and then reply asking them for full details of the matter. Oh and DON'T sign it, use the signature option in your fonts.

Hi Enaid, thanks for the swift reply, I cant think what it could be about, except for one payment to Setanta sports which I cancelled but Setanata said they did not receive my letter that was in May of this year, I then sent them a second letter, they then went bust, just after that the first Cabot letter arrived, I ignored that one, now the second one came today.

Hi Sapphire, thanks for advice I will not call them and wait to see if they send anymore out to me, just I tend to worry a lot over things like this as I dont understand all the legal stuff, and dont wont to go to court for something I cant remember anything about unless its Setanata.

OOH, this might get interesting, if Setanta have dumped everything on poor old Cabot.

In any case, Sapphire is right. Don't even bother replying, just get a folder and start to keep everything that arrives from these people. They really do need to be a little more specific. Phishing just doesn't cut it.

Of course, they CAN'T be too specific where they are unsure that they have the right person, 'cos that would be naughty. Not that it has stopped them in the past.
