I recently received 2 letters from MC ref a debt that i have. It was awarded a CCJ in 2015 but i never received any paperwork as i was not living their at the time.

The first letter was a Change of legal representative, changing to a local court. The second was in effect asking me to call their litigation team to let them know my current situation and there may be something they can do 'to help you pay the debt'.
I don't want the knock at the door and i can't afford the amount (6902.46).

What do i do? Call them? I appreciate ignoring it is not a possibility.

    Thank you.

It does sound like they are preparing the CCJ for enforcement ( not necessarily bailiffs, but possibly attachment of earnings, charging order etc ) so yes it will need dealing with.

Have a read of the set aside application process https://legalbeagles.info/library/ho...-judgment-ccj/ - if suitable and successful it removes the judgment from your credit file and the register and you have opportunity to defend the claim. If you don't believe there is a defence to the claim then you could apply to court now to have payments by installment set at an affordable amount by the court ( N245 form for redetermination - costs £50 ) - the judgment stays on the register ( until 2021 - 6 years from the judgment date) and you pay installments until its paid off.

Had you moved from the address the claim was issued to permanently, or just moved out temporarily ? ( not being nosey - just whether you'd actually moved, updated electoral roll/credit file, utilities, phone etc - or just moved out for a bit ) - also when did you move out ?

Can you give us a bit of an idea what the orignal debt was too pls. Credit card/loan/car finance etc ? and when it originally defaulted ?
