  • Vet negligence limitation

    Hi

Just wondering if anybody knows the limitation period for vet negligence that resulted in the death of an animal?

From my research it appears to be professional negligence and so 6 years, but I have just been browsing a site that stated it is 3 years...I thought this was justfor personal injury?

    Thanks

Your claim is in tort and/or contract.

As you are finding out, not everything that you read on the internet is correct. You must apply your critical thinking faculties.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read this: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Tort essentially means the law of behaviour towards people. Negligence / Nuisance are some. I worked in liability claims and it is 6 years as essentially your pet is your property - I am sorry to hear about this. Claims in contract are different and 6 years I believe. Personal injury relates to injury to people obviously.
