Hi, we paid a £150 deposit for an outside caterer to attend a celebration of life function a few months ago. Unfortunately, they didn't turn up on the day. We had to contact them and eventually they apologised saying they had made arrangements with another caterer to attend as they had double booked but didn't know why they hadn't arrived. We requested a refund, they have made two attempts back through PayPal, which was the original source, but both have failed. He is only responding to FB messenger messages via my sister (who arranged this) but not emails ( from my elderly mother), which contain screenshots of the failed transactions. I have been asked to step in to deal with this on behalf of my mother and have sent the screenshots on her behalf. When the second refund attempt failed, I emailed him notifying him that if we haven't received a cleared refund by a certain date, we would start legal proceedings to recover the money due, even saying that he seemed to have an issue with Paypal and giving my mothers bank details for the refund. My sister has screenshots of all her messages with him and also notified him that he had emails from our mother.
