  • Bringing a claim

I am bring a claim against a large company so I would imagine they would have their legal team defend the case. I have done a claim before but against a small business so represented myself. Should I hire a solicitor for the day of the hearing? If so can I claim costs back if I win and does anyone know of any solicitors?

If your claim is against a large company, I would advise hiring a solicitor but if you feel comfortable you can represent yourself. You may be able to claim the legal costs back but it will depend on the nature of the claim. If the claim is for an amount less than £10,000, you are unlikely to claim the majority of the legal costs back. If the claim is for more than £10,000, the court may award some of your legal costs back to you. The decision is at the discretion of the court and claiming legal costs is not an absolute right. If you hire a solicitor, they are required to outline at the outset how much the legal costs are likely to be, so you can make a decision of how you would like to proceed.
https://justbeagle.com/ should be helpful to find a local solicitor.
    I hope this helps.
