Still 87% of all court claims go to a default judgment.
For court claims for a set amount of money only 11% are defended. Only 9% are admitted.
Why are there so many going to Default ? Other than claimants using an old address ( no way of knowing what % that is but it can't be more than 10% can it?) there really is no reason to end up with a Default Judgment. Is it head in sand, confusion over the court process, settling but not getting the claim discontinued?

More reassurringly ( for people who do defend the claims) only a few (45%??) go to allocation ( so settled / discontinued or stayed after defence) .... and a smaller proportion (18%?) actually get to a trial.
