That seems to be a bland 'Hello' letter and nothing more (although there may be a second page?).

    No threats.

I remain of the view that a s.77-79 CCA Request to Capquest is the way forward.

Then I suggest you send a Subject Access Request to the original creditor (who was it and when did you open the account?) for the full history of this credit card which should include details of the last payment you made.

I'm not doubting your assertion that this was in 2008 but you need to be ultra certain before you write to them which in the very least gives them the heads up that you live at your current address.

        You're welcome

The thing is I can't say often enough that sometimes 'less is more' when it comes to dealing with correspondence.

Sometimes it's a good thing to reply and sometimes it's a bad thing.

There's no deadline in that Capquest letter so take your time in deciding what to do next (or not). Firing off a letter may make you feel good but ask yourself is it a wise move.

Capquest seem to have been busy buying debts recently ... I was sent one by a friend last week who was asking what they should do!

Here's the whole letter, I'd assume the one Sue49740 has is the same on the other pages?

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

Arrow has acquired what seems to be a portfolio of very old debts and are using Crapquest to manage them.

Arrow (debt purchaser) took over Capquest (debt collector) a couple of years ago so they are effectively 'in-house DCA' for the Arrow Group.

At the time of the acquisition they owned £12.4 billion of debt spread over 8.2 million customer accounts, so you can imagine the amount of template letters which get sent out.

How to respond to any letter you receive depends on where you are in the debt cycle and what the letter actually says.

Sending a CCA Request if one has never been sent is a wise investment whatever the circumstances, unless you've already sent one which hasn't been complied with.
