Hi.

Can someone advice me please?

I had an old catalogue debt a few years ago and had several debt collection agencies chasing me for the debt.

To cut a long story short I received a letter from a company called Capquest who were offering me a 70% discount if I settle the debt.

I paid the settlement offer which was £146.45 and thought that was that. However I have Lowells chasing me and I requested documents as per advice from here.

It wasn't until I have received the letter saying I now have a CCJ against me for this catologue debt that had me thinking. So I logged onto Capquest and it stated I owed £348 and that I hadn't yet set up a payment plan. I checked the transactions page and my credit card payment is showing on there, yet they offered me the settle figure. ( I still have the settlement letter ).

I am now thinking that this debt was sold on to Lowells and they are wanting me to pay £50 per month off the debt.

I am just about to put a dispute on my credit file, so was just after some advice and peoples thoughts are what they think has happened?
