    Help!
Long story short I was very naive when I was younger I was thrown store cards overdrafts left right and centre. I hadn't a clue what a credit rating was. At 20 I had a little boy lost my job and didn't and couldn't afford to pay anything off. It is only recently that i truely realised my mistake and the huge hole I had dug with no sign of a way out. I have been attempting to pay off my debts one by one in full going through my credit history.
Today I came home work (It has been since getting back into full time employment that I can start paying back what I owe)
To find a letter from County court business centre Northampton saying a case has been assigned to the claimant on 20/12/14 for
    Amount claimed : £668.49
    Court fee : £60.00
    Solicitor cots : £70.00
    Total : £798.49
Checking my credit file the amount slightly differs but defaulted 19/01/2012

I have never had any direct contact with Lowell with this account and cannot afford £798.49 in one go my essential bills eat most of my wage instantly. As I am trying to reduce my negative imprint on my credit file I also cannot afford a CCJ, can anyone share some advice on where I stand/ next steps
    Anything is greatly appreciated

    Welcome to LB

This post outlines the steps to be taken upon receipt of a court claim. Bear in mind that if this was for a mobile contract, the CCA request mentioned there will not apply: http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...322#post418322

Once you acknowledge service (within 14 days) you have a further 14 days to submit a defence, plus 5 allowed for service.

Have you got any grounds you can think of to dispute this Orange account? How did it come to be so large? Roaming charges? early cancellation?

Lowell are a debt purchaser so they probably bought the account from Orange.

      Hi FlamingParrot
Im very new to this so have no idea what to do
On my credit file it shows a default of £158
it was taken out on the advise on a salesman at phones4u my sister hadnt built credit up so was declined on a phone so was put in my name (you live and learn)
The rest must be an early cancellation charge, I believe this has been through 3-4 collection agencies before dropping in Lowells lap I just buried my head an thought it would go away
      How wrong was I
Is there no way around the CCJ bearing in mind I cannot afford the sum they are asking for?
