  • Laz2011 v HFC/Hamptons £26k

Hi, I also have a letter from Hamptons legal for a debt I had with HFC Bank. It was a debt secured against my house which got repossessed, admittedly I never kept track as I was going through a divorce and I assumed everything was cleared as northern rock were the only ones chasing me for negative equity and I was paying them off monthly.

But now out of no where I have a letter from Hampton's legal demanding £26,000!! I spoke to HFC bank and they said that they sold the debt last year to Lowell and that it was no longer their debt?

What do I do? I want to clear this debt if it is there but I can not afford £26,000, and they are threatening court action! Please help!

Re: Guess who? Yep, Lowell (and friends)

    Hi,

I'll moved this to your own thread so it's easier to keep track of.

Do you have ANY paperwork regarding the repossession and shortfall debt ?

Can you give us a better idea of dates, when were you repossessed ? What arrangement had you made with NR for repayment of the shortfall, and when did you stop making those payments ?

PResumably the HFC debt was secured and they had a sale order? but as you were in negative equity got nothing out of it at all ?

Do you now own a property or rent?

If you can post a copy of the letter from Hamptons as well that would be very helpful.

Try not to worry, we'll help as much as we can.

    Sharon

How much was the secured loan for? How long ago was your house repossessed?

The loan was for either £20k or 25k and the house was repossessed back in early 2009.
