  • Re: Charges on Property

    Hi
This is my first posting on this site.
Not sure if it is in the right section but hope you can help or point me in the right direction.
I now have two charges placed on my property, the first was placed over 10 years ago and by Lloyds bank and was done in a previous name as I have since done a name change, so this was placed on the previous name is there a way around this? I also never received any notice regarding this and only discovered it when I tried to apply for credit. Please help as the interest on this must be sky high.

The second charge was done through a company I previously owned and a customer had a kitchen installed by a contractor which was only introduced by the company and not employed by the company but for some strange reason the then Manager put on the invoice that the contractors was ours and this was never the case and has stated that the customer was fully aware it was only an introduction.
I was due to attend the court and ticked the box requesting a telephone hearing and assumed that meant I did not need to be there so never attended, then made a second application and could not attend as the Mother of my Son was experiencing a breakdown/depression so could not attend as I had to look after my then one year old Son, so they went ahead a placed the charge on my property I am now in Limbo as I do not what to do and where I stand with regards to these charges.

Please can anyone help and advise me on how to remove these charges.

The fact that you have changed your name has no effect - the charge is on the land, not you. Are you definately the owner of the property (what actually is it? Domestic? Commercial?)? What exactly does the charge relate to?

    What is the interest on?

How did a charge on your property come about as a result of a dispute between a 'customer' and the company? More details of the court case please.

Please can anyone help and advise me on how to remove these charges.
If the charges are legitimate, you cannot remove them.
