Waiting for proof from DCA - so how do I word my defence?

Following the receipt of a Claim Form from the County Court Bulk Centre in the name of a DCA (and Bryan Carter Solicitors), I asked here for advice and CurlyBen's "Prove It" letter is currently winging its way towards BCS.

I have completed the Acknowledgement of Service online stating I will be defending the case - but what do I need to put in my defence? That I have no knowledge of owing the claimant and I'm waiting their response? Is that enough? Would I need to attach a copy of the "Prove It" letter?

Also - how long do I have to submit my defence - is it 28 days, or is it 14?

I'm sorry if I sound dim!

Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service

Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)

If you fail to Acknowledge the claim you may have a default judgment awarded against you, likewise, if you fail to enter your defence within 28 days from Service.
