Does it help that I had already left Orbit, before they went 'bust'
    Yes, that's good,

'Energy was supplied from 4th February 2019 to 9th June 2020, account reference xxxxxxxxx.'

Apply the known facts to your Defence, there is an example defence in post No.11.

Utility companies don't normally let customers transfer until any debit on their account is paid

If Op did manage to transfer before OE went bust, OP hasn't said which utility company their account was transferred to,

An assumption was made that it was SP on the grounds that all of OE's customers were transferred to SP

It is possible to transfer, even if a debt is owed to an energy supplier, you need to show that they are at fault for the debt (I've done that).

It could be the Administrators that has lodged the claim. So it might be a case of finding out what the opening reading was for the new supplier, then working backwards.

Joanne Hewitt-Schembri, Paul Berkovi, and Mark Firmin of Alvarez & Marsal were appointed Joint Administrators for Orbit Energy Limited

I think I am on the 4th set of people chasing me for this debt. I have not heard of any of them before

Sorry I have reviewed the link and it's buzzing my head. I know I need to change bits, aside from the obvious dates, references etc, but I don't understand what with.
I am a social worker this is making my head hurt, please can you advise where can I go to get more specific help (not that I don't appreciate your guidance, but I still don't understand)
              Thanks
