  • Overdale court claim - help please

    Hello,
I received a letter from the courts today with paper work for a CCJ and a separate letter from Overdale stating they had applied for a CCJ and I would be receiving the paper work.
I phoned them up and the guy on the phone said if I can clear the balance before May, that I will not receive a CCJ. I asked if they could do this as they have already submitted it to court and he said yes they would place it on hold.
the debt is from about 2009, how we it only defaulted in Nov 2017, it was for a phone contract and the amount is now for £700.

My question is does this sound right? I presumed once I received the paper work that they wouldn’t back track and enter into a payment plan with me. The guy said if I paid (roughly cant remember exact amount) £130 a month that I wouldn’t get a CCJ, if I paid £50 a month, I would get a ccj.

Do they have a certain amount of time to delay before they proceed?

Just to add, after I got off the phone and the guy said I wouldn’t receive a CCJ if I kept up with the repayments I binned the paper work. I am feeling rather foolish now and worried that he has given me incorrect infomation
