  • Count Court Business Centre - Parking Charge

Hi All I was wondering if someone can help me I received a claim form while i was on holiday for an outstanding parking charge for £267. As I was away I did not respond and they sent me a letter that as I had not responded I must pay the claimant for debt and for costs.

I have noticed this claim has a car Reg for a car I owned 3 years ago and i honestly cant remember what this is about or have received any communication in the last couple years on the issue of this parking ticket. Is this normal?

The claim pack was issues on 22nd June which i had 14 days to respond however I was not in the country .

I have called the court and they have stated that a judgment has been made and ill need to pay the fee by 13th August or make an appeal which will cost me 275 pounds.

So it looks like I wont be able to argue the fact that i was not in the country as to make an appeal will costs me more than the money owed itself.

Is there anything I can do at this point?

Only on the parking bit, of which there is no detail.

You could get the judgment overturned which restarts the case, but if you would lose (I don't know the details) then better now to pay the claim before the date and then you will not have the CCJ on your credit file for the next 6 years.

They have 6 years from the alleged breach to start a claim in the courts

As a matter of simple economics, and to achieve certainty and finality, you may wish to consider paying up now to prevent an adverse entry on your credit record.
