I received a Simple Procedure relating to private parking tickets from a well known car park company for the car I’m a registered keeper of.
The money I’m being sued for is around £4000. With laws changing in Scotland I know I have to just pay - I can’t risk court and having to pay even more. I’m the registered keeper but unsure if I was driving at the time (shared car - parking was at a car park regularly used by all drivers with access to car).
I have negotiated around £1000 off if I pay in full (this is still higher than I can realistically pay as a lump sum, but my proposed full and final settlement offers have been rejected (was looking for an additional £500 off - I’m borrowing money from family to pay in full) and I can’t get a monthly plan in place as I’m due to lose quite a bit of income in the next few months (job is being made part-time).
I advised I could pay the reduced fee that they want in full but wanted to know that I wouldn’t be contacted any further from the company - they are now apparently “looking into more PCN’s”.
Can they do this and make me pay these ones that aren’t a included in the original sum of money detailed in the simple procedure without going through the process again? This has been absolutely draining - the communication between the Sheriff Officer at the debt collection company has been terrible (waiting weeks for a response to one email and constantly having to chase a reply). I could’ve been sorted weeks ago but now I only have one week to settle and it’s making me ill.
any advice would be appreciated - this has been truly awful over a car park that is free to park in!!!
