  • Lowell threatening court action over orange debt

Hi everyone I hope that someone can help with a debt I have with orange, lowell have sent me a pre action letter for debt they bought from Orange, I know I owe the debt which is £498 but lowell have said the debt is £1289, I have screen shot off debt from credit report stating the debt is £498 and have told lowell this but they say I'm liable for whole debt.
I also asked for agreement / contract with orange and they said basically it's a service agreement and there is no obligation for original creditor to provide this.
they said they have placed account on hold for 30 days thus to allow me time to contact them again with regards to paying the debt and failure to do so will them re initiating the pre action process.
as I said previously I owe £498 and will pay that amount but dispute the amount lowell are saying the debt is so any advice or guidance in this matter would be appreciated
    Many thanks

Apologies for missing your post Teresa.

Have you got anything from Orange regarding the debt at all ? Might be worth sending a subject access request off to Orange to get details of the account.

Have Lowell started court action or is it just at pre-action letter and response ?

Hi and thank you amethyst, I can't seem to find an address or number for orange as it's been taken over by ee so any help with that would be great.
and lowell have said they will give me 30 days to contact them with regards to my intentions of payment, I also offered them monthly payments on the £498 I owe but they never acknowledged it at all in there letter, shall I email them and ask for breakdown of the £1289 they say I owe?
      many thanks again amethyst.
