  • Lowell filed for a ccj...

Hey everyone, looking for some advice really. I have many debts from when I was younger and I’ve basically stuck my head in the sand for years hoping it would go away. I know for a fact a few are stat bar as of early next year. However today I received a court claim for a ccj for 1 of them. It doesn’t state the address where is was (I’m an army wife so have lived in 6+ houses over 10 years) however I believe it’s from my previous house and as it’s for BT I also believe that it’s one we were offered free cancellation of services and contract as they basically offered us way more internet than they could actually provide.

my question is at this point am I too late to send a prove it letter and then negotiate for a full and final settlement instead of court? The court fees would more than double the amount and with my anxiety I don’t have the energy to worry about it... me posting this at 02:40am clearly says I’m worrying over it.

id appreciate any insight as I’d really like to avoid court and a ccj. I don’t have the best credit but I’ve been working on it and I feel a ccj would destroy that.

    thanks in advance

Also I have just discovered that in February they offered me a 50% full and final settlement agreement. So would they still be likely to agree to that arrangement. Or at least do 50% discount now as I can pay that in a oner directly over the phone.

Morning xx I hope this isn't giving you sleepless nights ...

could you type the particulars of claim out please. You can acknowledge the claim and then send some letters to get the to evidence the claim, and also send a SAR to BT to find out where this has come from which should show up if any errors were made when cancelling the services before - it happens a fair bit when call centre staff say one thing and just don't action it properly.

Then you can defend ( or negotiate settlement) the claim once you know more about it.

Im going to move you to the court claim forum - you'll find the First Steps and letter links top right or below this post( depending on screen size )

      Try not to worry xxx
