Ok I have added the old account number I have from the Lowell letter and asked them to let me have any information relating to any accounts I may have held with them.

Looking at those letters.... blimey, no wonder no one knows if they are coming or going with Vodafone... it's like it's just made up

The letter from Vodafone ( presumably ) you've sent says £210 for 'outstanding call charges/line rental' then a £771 early termination charge.

But that invoice you have posted on here that Lowell sent to you as evidence ( lol ) is very clear that £227 is for line rental/call charges and Cancellation before contract end date.

Lowell don't appear to have actually read those two documents before sending them to you as they entirely contradict one another.

Bit outside the box here, but I think you need to say what you mean at this stage and be very clear that their claims make no sense and they need to provide more than a couple random bits of paper with invented numbers on them.

                    Dear Lowell

                    Reference: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your recent letter dated 23 July 2018 in which you enclose a copy of an alleged notice of assignment and a copy of an invoice from Vodafone.

I am certain, had you read these documents before sending them to me, you would realise they raise more questions rather than provide answers.

Firstly, I do not recognise this debt.

Secondly, I have not made any payment to Lowell, or to Red Debt, of £200 or of any amount as alleged in your 'Letter of Claim' dated 4 March 2018 - therefore please provide evidence and details of such a payment.

Thirdly, The invoice you have provided shows a charge of £227 for " cancellation prior to contract end ". There is no mention of a further early termination charge of £771 and until receiving letters from yourself knew nothing of this alleged fee. There is no default or termination notice provided at all.

I require a full breakdown of the amounts being claimed and a copy of the original agreement and terms of such. I have only ever had a SIM account with Vodafone, many years ago, and none of your claims make any sense to me at all. I have tried to obtain information as I am not one to avoid paying any debts that may have been overlooked, however as more documents are provided I am simply getting more and more confused as to what this alleged debt is, and where it has come from.

I have sent a Subject Access Request to Vodafone and am awaiting a reply in the hope this may shed further light on the matter and I would appreciate if you could keep the account on hold until such time as I have received a response and had opportunity to reassess matters.

Should you decide to take this to court action please take note that I will be defending the case and informing the courts that despite numerous requests for full information it has not been forthcoming and the documents that have been provided simply do not make sense without having sight of the original agreement and terms.

                    Kind regards

                    xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope it's okay - I'm a bit cross with Vodafone at the moment and Lowell are just taking the mickey.

Send the SAR to Vodafone too as that might clear everything up ( if they bother to respond of course, and if they don't you can complain to the ICO and it will help further with your defence )

I'd also try check your bank to see if you did somehow make a £200 payment to Lowell or Red Debt back in 2013

Thanks all printed and ready to post off along with SAR to vodafone. I've flicked back through all my 2013 online statements and have no £200 payment to anyone so no idea where they got that info from! I'll keep you updated on goings on, and once again thanks for your help.

Nice one, well done, it's good to be confident when stating these things back to them ( and potentially to the court ).

I've ask Vodafone on Twitter about that ' end the contract' invoice ( generally not yours specifically ) so if they ever reply I'll let you know what they say.

Ooooo while you're at your bank statements can you see how much you paid for those couple months you did make the payments ? As that would have been the standard monthly amount plus a bit extra for calls outside your limits, but should give us an idea what it SHOULD be.

Ok so I've looked for any payments to vodafone and don't seem to have any at all and I've been through all my 2013 monthly statements. I'm pretty sure I never had another bank account then either as I have been with the same bank for over 10years.
