So OP would have to have provided the recipient's details, name, sort code, bank account number
In the UK if the bank account number doesn't match the account holder's name the transaction will not go through
Is there not the same security transferring money to a foreign account?
If not, what would stop the customer from providing genuine recipient's details but providing the account number of an arms dealer?

The 'thing' is, I doubt the 'Mongolian' banks are linked to the 'Euro Zone', it's 'global transfer without borders'
So, I doubt details were 'flagged' up as being incorrect, if they were the OP would have aborted the 'transaction'.

No, the think that checks them is a system called COP. It is only for banks within the UK (and other regions, but its not commonly cross country).

all what needed was court order for disclousure which wise is happy and not resisting and you have been scaring us woth court costs .
we want to pay court costs
all we need is procedure to get disclousure order thanks

Firstly, there is absolutely no scam here at all, you simply imputted the wrong details.

Secondly, I'm not trying to scare you. I just don't want you getting things procedurally wrong. My point is that you need to sue the right entity, which in this case isn't wise. You need to sue the account holder that got the funds, and ask that a third party order be made against wise.

Do you have the name of the account that it went to or are you without any details?

The form N244 is for making an application to an existing claim, its not the form to use for making a claim.

If it is overseas that the recipient lives, you will need to employ a local lawyer to go after the recipient.

However the problem you will have is you can't go after the recipient if you don't know who they are.

I'm sorry but I really think you will struggle here, because you can't get a third party order without initating proceedings aginast the person who got the funds, but you can't initate those proceedings without knowing who they are.

            What country were they in?

Once you have the country, you will likely be best to instruct proceedings against a person unknown which will allow you to get an order to require wise to disclose the information.

The problem is wise may not comply with the terms of an order against a person unknown because they have no way of knowing if the person unknown is your person.

It also depends what country it was sent to, as different countries have different legal systems.

I think OP should follow Atticus's advice and consult a solicitor

There is a lot of money at stake and the conflicting views being expressed here indicate to me that no-one here has the legal expertise on this specialist area to give OP the advice they need.

What the OP needs to do, is find the Country / bank where this account is located. Then contact a firm that has legal representation in the UK and that Country, go from there.

There are lots of 'variables'. What if the person lives in Brazil, the account is held with a German bank.

This is under the Personal Agreement

25.16 You must ensure the information you provide to us is correct.
You must make sure that the information you provide when setting up a Money Transfer is accurate. If we have processed your order in accordance with the information you have provided to us it will be considered correctly completed even if you have made a mistake.

25.17 What happens if you provide us with incorrect information? If you have provided incorrect information to us, we may, but are not required to, assist you in recovering your funds. We cannot guarantee that such efforts will be successful as they rely on the policies and practices of other banks and institutions. In addition, Wise may not be able to confirm that your recipient’s name and account number match, as the names and other information associated with third party accounts may not be known to Wise. This means that if you provide an incorrect account number, your funds will most likely go to the wrong account.

25.18 Finality. When you make a Money Transfer, the settlement and payout to the recipient are final and irrevocable unless otherwise provided in this Agreement or pursuant to applicable law.

                      Just a thought
One incorrect digit in the bank account number may mean the incorrect recipient banked at the same bank as the intended recipient

Wise isn't a bank, it's a money transfer business, I've made the same error previously.

Yes your right, not a bank. Wise customers can still have an account with Wise. Wise holds/invests money for their account holders

It might be an idea to send Wise a SAR request, they have 30 days to provide all the data on the account.

I don't think a SAR would give information about the accoutn the funds were sent to though because wise will just redact that info from the SAR no?
