  • Interest on Small Claim

When a claim is filed on form N! interest is calculated up to the date on the claim form.
If there is a long delay between the claim form date and the hearing date, and the claim is successful, is the claimant entitled to additional interest?
If the claimant is entitled, who calculates this interest? The claimant or the judge.

    Yes.

You should do the calculation. The judge may want to check it.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

      Thanks
Already 60 weeks and counting, will be about 70 weeks if the hearing goes ahead on the provisional date. At 8% pa interest could amount to one fifth of the claim (160 weeks since I paid deposit on credit card)
