Hopefully I'm picking the right category for this.
I work in an Arizona office for a large company headquartered in New York. The work is essentially a temp agency and sometimes there are gaps between our projects.
The state of Arizona began garnishing my wages for a tax debt about a year ago (Maricopa County Superior Court). Around October the work projects tapered off substantially and then this past March the garnisher petitioned for a discharge. Presumably they determined that I was no longer employed. I received these notices by mail and I can see them in the electronic court record. As far as I can tell my employer was mailed a copy of the order. I do not believe that the balance of the debt has been satisfied yet.
Back in April I did a bit more work for this employer and found that my pay was still garnished from those two pay weeks. I generally receive email copies of the forms that my employer submits and I responded to that person with the pdf of the discharging order. Unfortunately they won't do anything unless it comes straight from the court or the garnisher.
I really don't want to have to pay for the court to send this out and I figure that if I reach out to the state they'll just realize the mistake and restore the garnishment anyway. Yes, I realize that I could possibly make a payment arrangement and go that route instead.
Is it encumbent on my employer to act on this? Should I push this up the chain? Do I have any recourse to recover the roughly $100 taken by mistake? Or should I contact the state and request them to send out the document (again)?
