I recent.y received a CCJ for some older debts (nearly but not quite 6 years).
I tried to avoid it by agreeing to mediation but the court didn’t get the paperwork back in time.
I can’t afford to ask for it to be set aside unfortunately.
The court have ordered £120 a month repayment which I just cannot do so I’ve sent a letter sling for a reconsideration and enclosed the income/expenditure form etc. I have asked for a hearing local to me just so I can see someone face to face.
My question is about the first payment due this week.
I’ve worked out I can afford £31 a month, however should I start with this to show I am willing to pay something? Or is this going to cause all kinds of trouble?
Our energy bill has doubled and our rent has gone up as well. We literally don’t have that kind of money to spare a month.
If it is absolutely essential that I make the first payment £120 as ordered by the court I will have to borrow the money from a relative which means we will have to repay them too.
My account is straight as I pay all our bills. My husband doesn’t work as he cares for our son who is autistic (fits in an occasional job).
i work four days a week but keep one day for our son….not as a luxury but because there’s some things he will only do with me (counselling sessions) which prevents me working full time.
