  • What is an N24 application and what does it mean for me?

I am a claimant taking a defendant to court. My court date is Monday. The Defendant did not enter evidence in time so the judge granted an extension of yesterday. As of this morning, the defendant has now submitted an N24 which is with the judge. What does this mean? Do I have to do anything?

He is applying for some court order or other, possibly to allow late evidence. If it will affect your case, then you will be notified how and what if anything you have to do. Equally, it is possible that just on looking at the application the judge will refuse it without the need for a hearing.

N244 is simply the number of the form used to apply for a court order.

I have since received a letter from the court dated after the trial date saying the trial remains listed for the 17th. And that the defendant is to confirm to the court service on the N244, with the application being considered by the trial
judge. How can the trial be listed for a date in the past and still be active? I’m not sure what this now means for me.
