  • NCO Europe Chasing 14+ year CCj

    Hi All,

In the past few months, I have started to receive letters in my previous married name for an old CCJ ( Egg credit card).

The last payment was made to Egg via Debt Free Direct in 2009 ( failed IVA)

The CCJ has dropped off my credit report but I'm aware that legally I still owe the debt and it's not statute barred

I did successfully claim PPI against Egg about 3 years ago which was automatically put towards the amount owed by Egg themselves

    1. Does NCO Europe have to apply to the courts to enforce the debt after all this time or can they proceed with threats to visit regardless

    2. Did the PPI claim reset the clock in any way

I haven't acknowledged any correspondence but have been spooked by a text received just now asking me to contact them

I've just read up on them and they seem real hard core DCA's

    Thanks

    Hi LOKI68

The CCJ might of dropped off your credit file, but it still on the register. They would have to apply to the Court to enforce the debt. They can carry on chasing the debt, but are only a DCA with limited powers.

    2. Did the PPI claim reset the clock in any way

No, nothing to reset, the debt isn't statute barred because there is a CCJ in place.

I haven't acknowledged any correspondence but have been spooked by a text received just now asking me to contact them

Don't contact them, monitor the situation, update the thread, if anything materializes.
