  • Need help with TV license evidence

Hi everyone, after some advice with regards to TV license issues.

So me and my wife do not watch live TV, BBC I player or record live stuff. We therefore cancelled our license. A while later a inspector came to check we didn't need one. I was in work at the time but I would have told him to do one. My wife let him in as the experience can be quite intimidating I imagine. So the guy came in and basically agreed that we didn't need one. He rushed out the door and that was that. A few weeks later we get a letter saying that we are now signed up to a TV license. We immediately called them and said that we don't need it please cancel it. Recently we've received a court guilty not guilty plea for failing to pay. Apparently the guy has put on the form that my wife said we watched ITV the week before his visit. He's put that there's no signature on the form because she was holding back the dog. Our outside aerial doesn't even work. We don't have Sky, Virgin, Freeview. Any advice on how to proceed in court evidence wise. Thanks
