Cut off points for legal action re discrimination.

Hi, I’m trying to find advice on the time scales of claims submissions related to discrimination re disability, in service, not employment and being refused a service other were granted by being told ‘they don’t do that’. I have been provided conflicting advice from organisations as well as solicitors.

Following the event I was struggling a lot with my disability. This year I contacted the organisation for answers. I have been stonewalled, gaslighted but finally got an answer of ‘reasons behind all decisions’ and that those cases I raised in comparison they needed for different reasons, non comparable. The service provided was the same.

Without answers, and looking back over years of attending this place, never a problem, no issue raised, the only difference in relationship was a decline in my health and disability.

I really hope it doesn’t go that far anyway. The individual is now taking my formal complaint of discrimination to their lawyer. I hope I am given an answer and it is not this. However, should it have to proceed, I was told initially that I would have 6 months from the last instance of discrimination. That being her alluding to differences for the first time. I was offered no reasoning other than no when I first asked and was not in a well place mentally to understand the implications. I was then told it is from the initial instance. Last year. I was then told by another solicitor it’s from the last communication where ‘discrimination’ took place. And then told by someone else because that was in regard to the initial incident, it would be from the incident itself.
I am awaiting their response either through them or their solicitors but because I’m not well, I’m trying to mentally get myself in a place where I can understand the process and what might come next in preparation so I’m not trying to do everything at once.

Could anyone advise please? The first person stared a court case, I can’t remember the name where the judge ruled because the defendant had replied asserting their position, they considered the time frame for placing a case would be from date, even though it was about the incident before.

I really hope that makes sense. I’m quite confused.

Section 118 of the equality act 2010 (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga...15/section/118) states the time limit starts with the date of the act to which the claim relates, but adds "(a)conduct extending over a period is to be treated as done at the end of the period;"
