Hi I am looking for some advice over court papers being sent to a previous address. In short when we moved February 2020 we informed our electricity supplier of our final read and our new address by phone. I emailed a photo of the meter along with our account number, old and new address details on the same day that I spoke to them.
They could not at that time provide supply at the new address as they did not deal with smart meters, they were one of the five that Ofgem dragged over the coals for not signing up to the common smart meter system.
We have not been able to log into the online account for over a year and despite numerous email and telephone calls over the final bill they never respond. I have had no contact from them regarding the unpaid bill in all that time apart from automated promises they will reply but don’t.
On Monday this week I received an email from the court service with the papers attached but the address in them is for the old address. I had a royal mail redirection in place till February this year and never received any mail from them.
Would these papers be deemed as correctly served by sending to the old address but the courts sending a copy by email.
The money is due no question so my question is how do I deal with the court papers? I have until the 7th of June to respond to the court papers.
Thanks in advance for any advance.
