  • How to deal with CCJ identity theft

    Hello everyone,

I just recently found out that I have a CCJ from credit report. It is from a utility company and they have been billing me since Jan 2020 to date for a property I left over a year ago. I had just rented one room in this property for 3 months. I was outside the UK for 9 months after that and just recently returned and live somewhere else. So had no idea what was going on

This property was being managed by an individual (friend of landlord) who was subletting the rooms illegally. So I didn’t have a written tenancy as it wasn’t a proper HMO but it was agreed that bills were included. He somehow managed to create utility account in my name and now I have a CCJ that was issued this month. Thankfully I found out on time. This guy lives with his family and other tenants in this property but charging me water bills even now! Please advise why to do!
