N1 service options

Hello,

I have a memory of N1 forms having a tick box if you want to serve the claim form yourself instead of the court, from a relatives case, but the current N1 form does not have this option? Is it no longer allowed? I intend to serve when particulars are ready so it is my preference that the court do not serve for me.

Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service

Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)

If you fail to Acknowledge the claim you may have a default judgment awarded against you, likewise, if you fail to enter your defence within 28 days from Service.
