Litigant in Person Costs

Hi

I am representing myself in court in a small claims track case.
Can I recover costs from time spent dealing with court related paperwork and research?
If so, at what rate and what is the procedure to claim?

If it’s a small claim, you are not able to claim costs spent on research and such - only court fees and expenses for any witnesses.

Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service

Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)

If you fail to Acknowledge the claim you may have a default judgment awarded against you, likewise, if you fail to enter your defence within 28 days from Service.
