  • Harvey Norman's

Hi. I will try and keep this simple. Basically I'm taking Harvey Norman to a small claims court. The date is set for a few weeks time. We bought a corner sofa from said company and from the day we got sofa it has had a loud creak at two corners. Harvey have sent technicians out 3?times to fix it but it was never fixed. They keep saying no fault found. They even blame it on the wooden floor it sits on. Each time a technician has been out he has put in the report that it is creaking. They have admitted it is creaking. So I pay for an independent inspection by Fira who it turns out also do work for Harvey Norman so I believe this was not an independent inspection. This technician discovers three travelling castor wheels that had not been removed after delivery so it has caused the frane to bend. Since the wheels have been removed the creaking has stopped. I had to pay for inspection myself. But even he wrote no fault found. Surely a creaking sofa is a fault.

    Any advise greatly appreciated.

It may be that this isnt a fault at all, did Harvey Norman install the sofa? if so, then they may have breached the duty to carry out the installation with reasonable care and skill
