  • Entry warrant housing standards/saftey

Can an entry warrant be used 6 months after it was issued and how do you check if it was a real warrant issued lawfully or one of the many illegal self-issued ones? There is an unreadable signature and it cannot be uniquely identified to that person.

Can you tell us a little more what this is about?

Two head members of the council's selective licensing team turned up and demanded to carry out an inspection. I informed them that the house was outside the designed area and they had no legal right to be there. One of the team told me he would get an entry warrant and I would be informed of the application. Out of the blue about 8 months later when I was away then turned up with two CID officers a locksmith and 3 council officers with an entry warrant issued 6 months before. I believe the warrant was fake or issue illegally, it had the usual unreadable signature, but no name.

This is something you need to take up with the Court that issued the Warrant. A lot of Warrants are now issued electronically.

Many thanks. What would be useful to know if the law or procedures allows a warrant can be used 6 months after it was issued?
