Hello everyone.... Please help me as I have done the first n last big mistake in my life... Caught in primark 2 days before.. I am from India and about to leave in next 4 days.... They took me into separate room and taken all the things back for which I have not paid... Police was not involved... They have taken my permanent address of India and my UK number and one I'd proof photocopy... They have given me one intended notice and asked me to pay fine and contact rlp one day before leaving UK otherwise they will contact my parents or can go to court... That have checked my ticket details also....please help me I am very scared...whether dey can stop me from going India or they can take me to India court... Please help me..

Hi tgere Rjain, welcome.

Cease worrying about PRimark and RLP.
They can do nothing at all except write threatening letters.
They cannot fine you.. in the uk only the courts issue fines.
I assume you are a minor, but even so they should not inform your parents who live in India?).
If they do, and if you haven't already told them about your lapse, show your parents this site.
Any letters you receive from RLP you ignore
RLP cannot take you to court, altghough they will threaten it
Primark would be the one to initiate court proceedings, and they won't.
Just ignore them!!!

Thank you so much for replying... My concern is whether they can stop me from going India on Saturday...i am not minor... I came here for 1 month only for work purpose and going back to India..
I don't want to involve my parents they will get more tensed then me... I am very much afraid....please advice by any chance they can stop me from going India and if I reached India after then they can do anything there in India... Please advice...

They cannot stop you leaving the country.
They can't do anything in the UK, let alone India.
If they write to your parents in India, you'll just have to convince your parents there is nothing to worry about.
If they do write to your parents about this, they are breaking the Data Protection Act 1998 and committing a criminal act, so unlikely to write.

writeletters...that's all they can do.
Threatening letters and nothing more.
They even use red ink sometimes to be even more scary!

They have no power over you anywhere they just threaten and hope people pay up believing they have commited a crime and they have a fine to pay they are not the law never will be forget this you made a mistake get on with your life in india

Do you guys have heard any case where Rlp has done nothing.. Not even issue letter... I dont want to let my parents know... The women in the store told me that if I contact them an pay fine they will not send any letter and it will be between primark n me only... No one will come to know... Is it will be right to contact rlp?

If you decide to contact (and pay) rlp then that is your choice ... although I wouldn't bother myself. As Des and Wales have said, the most rlp can do is 'invite' you to give them some money ... which they do not deserve and you do not owe (they got the items back)!!

I doubt very much that they would even write to you in India. They cannot enforce anything and cannot take you to court.

I gave one more question.... When I was caught I asked the lady that I am ready to pay for the items now but she said me that now I cannot pay for them... Is there can be any reason behind this... If one ready to pay for the items then why they can't just finish the issue there only...

From what I've read on other threads on here [MENTION=95423]Rjain[/MENTION] they never let you pay for the goods after they accuse you of shoplifting :noidea:

Please note:

1. This bunch cannot issue a " FINE" it is as said a " speculative " invoice, the makeup was recovered and I presume and in good condition and OK for resale.

Yes they are asking for security costs £125 and the price of the item £4. I dont know why they are asking for the cost of the item because they took that from me in the store.On the letter they are called DWF solicitors acting on behalf of Tesco Stores Limited not RLP solicitors.Thank you for previosly reply
