  • Hello & help

I got myself into serious pickle today,
totally out of character and on the back of recently being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I felt ill in a garden centre with my trolley , I desperately needed the toilet and felt really weird, instead of leaving the trolley I packed my stuff in a carrier and went passed the checkout, I knew I wasn't going to make it to the toilet, I thought I was going to faint, stopped to orientate myself where the toilets were, was accosted by staff member who asked to see my receipt, I agreed but was worried about the toilet. Or embarrassing myself, I said I was waiting for my other half( I was on my own) she said she would call my husband, on the tannoy I couldn't remember, who I was now, or who my husband was, I said I would wait for him, my mind was blank, ( I haven't got a husband) I couldn't remember what car I had or where it was, I searched the car park frantically trying to remember who my husband was!
They called me back in and I paid for the goods with a credit card, I went out, into the car park to see if I could remember how I had got there, it seemed ages before I came out of this mad situation I found my car and drove of with soiled underclothes and frantically trying to remember the situation, going home I remembered the same thing happening at the week end but in the field not a shop, I lost my bearings completely,
2 things worry me now, am. Having small strokes and will I get reported by the shop for attempted shoplifting? I'm terrified
    please help?

    Hello Bonkers!
If the shop did not call in the police or take your details then you should be ok re attempted shoplifting but if I were you I would get myself back to the doctor sharpish. Type 2 diabetes can easily be controlled with proper medication and diet (my OH has it) but the dosage has to be regulated and monitored. I think you will be fine once your GP has had a chance to check you out but don’t be afraid to ask to see a different doctor if these symptoms continue.

I really think there would have been a bit more of a Hu ha at the shop if they were going to press charges. BTW, it is unlikely you had a stroke but I would still leg it down to the GP. I wouldn’t drive until this is sorted out either or you might find yourself in a lot of bother. If you do have another episode before you see your GP then try to get straight to A & E. Try not to worry because most people with T2 D live perfectly normal lives once you get the proper med/diet balance.
