Re: RLP letter- under 18, help..
Hi Des,
I have nothing against the vast majority of youth of today.
Most of them are great kids, and I use the word kids lightly.
I have seven grand-kids and as far as I'm aware, they are all OK.
Three are working, three are at college, and the other one is in senior school.
Maybe I have been lucky, but I like to think that how I bought my kids up, has somehow rubbed off on them and they bought their kids up along similar lines.
And the bit about community service, was my idea of a joke mate:tinysmile_twink_t2:
Where I live in North London, the local papers are full of stories of theft, stabbings, sexual assault etc.
Last week, we had two murders, three stabbings and other crimes within a five mile radius.
So yes, I am concerned about kids, especially my kids and grand-kids.
And pussy footing around with those kids who commit crimes, does not help ease the problem.
They just grow up thinking that it is OK to rob people, deal in drugs, or use violence to get their own way in the world.
Because there is always someone who will bail them out.
But it does have a knock on effect on the community.
Maybe in your part of the country it's different, but it will spread mate.
Where I live was once a decent place to live in.
Now the streets are full of litter, dumped furniture, and other rubbish.
No-one seems to want to do anything about it. And it definitely has got worse over the last ten years.
Another problem we have now, is the changing community.
We now have a large proportion of immigrants in this area.
Pushed together in one area by the council, there is no integration into the community.
How can you integrate when the only person in the house that speaks some English, is a seven year old kid.
I have to disagree that we are off the topic.
Theft was the topic mate.
But some are not so nice
