Hi I'm after some advice. Around a year ago my boyfriend signed up for an electrician course with train4trade. A guy came to his house conducted an interview style meeting and then said he would be happy to give him a place. When we asked for a few days to think about it the guy was adamant that he wouldn't be in the area so he had to decide and pay the £50 sign up now else his space would be gone - lies I presume. So he signed up and received a letter case and a book.

We were not informed that the agreement was with a finance company and were told he had asking as he wants to do it as getting time of work would be hard. However I the agreement states he has 3 years to compleate obviously not what we were told.

He's now been paying for 12 months £165! He has only ever received the book and care, no support has not entered the learner centre or spoke to a toutor.
Is he stuck paying this money? Thanks.

Best thing to do is cancel the direct debit, write them a letter regarding this for a refund of all payments. If they do not offer this then take them to the small claims courts, threaten them with this if they do not offer you a refund, they are in partnership with Train2Game etc they used to be called skillstrain, check out the skillstrain under scrutiny video google it any questions, feel free to ask.

Won't cancelling the direct debit leave a mark on credit score when they try and take the money out?
Also won't it be passed onto debt collectors as the finance company are owed the money? We're not fussed about the money back just don't want to keep paying it :/
Thanks I'll have a look at that now.

You need to get all your money back as they are are not a good company, cancel the direct debit get a direct debit indemnity. But first of all write them a letter explaining your not happy with this.

DON'T cancel the DD!!! You're right about them being able to put a mark on your credit file if you do and also about the debt collectors

          Have you written to them??

            I've just read that report.
            Am I right thinkin this:
Write a letter to Trade4skills stating that they have broke consumer rights stating the law asking for the contract to be terminated.

Then write to the finance company stating that the agreement is in dispute and offer to pay minimum payments of £1.00 a month until it's sorted?

Write to the local trading standard agency stating both of the above and the Miss sold products for them to get in touch with trade4skills.

Obviously not going to cancel the DD as the mark will effect us trying to get a house.
