Hello, I'm new to this and couldn't find a thread related so here goes.
My wife and I purchased a puppy 2 weeks before Christmas. We bought her from a lady who owned a pub. Her dogs had apparently had puppies and she was selling them, all seemed fine. We weren't worried about pedigree/KC and all that, we just wanted a puppy.
On the second night Wednesday(the puppy) started having seizures. We took to the emergency vet for treatment. They speculated on the many things it could be but no one really had an answer. Wednesday was given drugs to control her fits which they kind of did. We contacted the breeder to explain what had happened and were told that none of the other puppies had had any problems. When we asked for help with the bills we had no reply.
That was 4 months ago and Wednesday has had ups and downs. Our new vet recommended a CT scan to find out exactly what the problem was. Wednesday has Porencephaly which is an extremely rare BIRTH DEFECT. In the specialist's opinion she would've been having seizures from birt, however the breeder stated in the email that she'd had no problems with her.
The basis of my question really is this; do we have grounds to take this woman to court to try and recoup some, if not all, of the £2,500 we have spent on vet's bills in the last 4 months?
Thankyou in advance for any assistance.
