  • Damaged parcel delivered by Fed Ex

    Hi
A friend recently bought a supply of South African food and drink from a retailer and arranged for Fed Ex to collect it and deliver to me ( I have an account and it was the cheaper option). On arrival the parcel was damaged and a bottle of S.A Brandy was broken. The parcel had been rewrapped by fed ex.

The retailer is saying he should claim off fed ex as they broke it, Fed ex is saying that he should claim off the retailer because they did not package it correctly ( I do not know how it was originally packaged)

Legally who is liable for the damage?
    Any help would be appreciated

Hi John I think you'll find if you read the FedEx terms and conditions that they don't cover for anything 'glass' no matter how well it was packaged. The sender should have checked before sending it to you.

I think there may be an issue with who booked Fed Ex.

        Hi John,

Have a look at this link. It's designed for the retailers, but is very hepful for consumers:
