Hi,
My Mum recently bought a Macbook Pro from a well known High Street retailer.
As they were offering a take home now, pay in 12 months type deal , she took that and entered in to an agreement to pay on those terms.
However, she has since received a letter stating that as there has been an administrative error the finance company has been unable to process the credit application.
Whilst apologising for the inconvenience, they have offered her 3 solutions:
1. Provide a copy of the agreement
2. Make alternative payments for the goods
3. Contact them by 'phone etc.
Now, something similar happened to me in the mids 90s (A PlayStation from Tempo!) and I never responded and subsequently never paid. There is something at the back of my mind which suggests that as the store has made an error at the point of purchase, there is not a great deal they can do about it.
Does she need to act?
Are there any downsides?
Thanks in advance,
H
