Been awhile since i last posted on the forums. But the reason i am posting today is because i am vary seriously concerned about this new measure/traick being employed.
Basic, 5 minutes ago i was called on my mobile by a company claiming to be free debt advice, they wanted to know about whether i had any unclaimed PPI and whats debts i had, i refused to tell them. But the main concern i had was that the number that appeared on my phone when the rang was a local number with my own local landlines area number - Now am sure you can see why i am very concerned about this trick, as basically its fools people into thinking someone local to them, such as a friend or family member is trying to call them, so that they then answer the phone. Whats even more concerning is that Phone companies are allowing them, which this Free Debt Advice company confirmed when i rang the number back to make sure they were not piggy backing on some innocent person phone line, to buy phone numbers in many areas with the local area code.
This practice is very deceptive and i feel we should do everything we can to have this disgusting practice stopped. Especially when it opens the door even futher for them to exploit the vulnerable and less knowledgeable persons!
